MountainStar Family Relief Nursery is extremely pleased to be chosen as the major recipient of Quota
International of Central Oregon's Annual Holiday Auction.
The event will take place on December 5, 2008 at 6:00 PM at The Riverhouse,
3075 N. Hwy. 97 in Bend and is open to the public. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Della Bjerk at 541-389-2193.
What will this donation mean to MountainStar and the children and families it assists? MountainStar's Angel Transportation program will
be the beneficiary of the donation to help increase financing for bus transportation to pick up children and families at their homes and bring them to
MountainStar for their programs. Due to increased gas prices and budget constraints over the past year, the transportation program has been
reduced by 8% in children we can transport and a 20% reduction in staff costs; thereby significantly decreasing attendance rates. The donation
will hopefully support up to 25% of the transport budget; making it possible to transport more children in more areas in Central Oregon.

About MountainStar Family Relief Nursery:
MountainStar Family Relief Nursery ("MountainStar") provides crisis intervention and a therapeutic classroom for babies and young children from birth to 3
years old. These children come from families with multiple risk factors for child abuse and neglect, including low income, substance abuse,
homelessness, mental health issues and domestic violence. While one risk factor alone can create high stress environments, our families experience
an average of 20 of these risk factors. MountainStar's Safety Net Program networks with multiple agencies to provide a comprehensive support
system for over 275 children and families each year. We support parents' efforts to provide a loving home and solid foundation for growth and
development. MountainStar teachers and volunteers work one-on-one with over 65 children in our Healing Children Program, a "therapeutic
classroom" where we address each child's social, physical and emotional needs. In recognition of our significant contributions to the community as a
nonprofit organization, in March 2006 MountainStar was named the first ever "Organization of the Year" by the Bend Chamber of Commerce.
